Abstract: GRPC is a modern open-source high performance Remote Procedure Call (RPC) framework that can run in any environment. It can efficiently connect services in and across data canters with pluggable support for load balancing, tracing, health checking and authentication. It is also applicable in last mile of distributed computing to connect devices, mobile applications and browsers to backend services. A load balancer is a device that acts as a reverse proxy and distributes network or application traffic across a number of servers. Load balancers are used to increase capacity (concurrent users) and reliability of applications. They improve the overall performance of applications by decreasing the burden on servers associated with managing and maintaining application and network sessions, as well as by performing application-specific tasks. In this project we intend to develop a simple load balancer based on java that works efficiently with GRPC using weighted round robin algorithm.
